LazyPets is a macOS app by StoicSushi that puts animated pets on your Dock. This policy explains what information the app handles and what happens to it.
Account information (optional). You can use LazyPets without an account ("Continue as guest"). If you choose to create an account or sign in, with email and password, Sign in with Apple, or Google, we collect:
This information is used only to operate your account (signing you in and syncing your data between your Macs). It is stored with Google Firebase Authentication, our sign-in provider, on Google's servers. We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone else.
Synced content (only while signed in). Your task list (including archived tasks), website shortcuts, favourite pets, pet nicknames, and pet setup (which pets are in your rotation and which features they carry) are stored in Google Firestore under your account so they stay in sync across your Macs. They are used for nothing else. If you use LazyPets as a guest, this content never leaves your Mac. Signing out removes it from that Mac, and deleting your account removes it from our systems entirely.
Anonymous usage statistics (optional). To understand which features are used and what to improve, LazyPets sends anonymous usage events to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. An event records that something happened in the app, for example that a timer was started or a pet was added, together with a device identifier that is hashed on your Mac before sending, so it does not identify you. Usage events never include personal information or anything you type: no task text, no nicknames, no website addresses, no song titles. These statistics are not linked to your account, are not used for advertising, and are never sold. You can switch them off at any time in the manage window's Settings under "Share anonymous usage statistics".
Update and safety checks. Every few hours, LazyPets downloads a small configuration file from our website to learn whether a newer version is available and whether a feature needs to be switched off temporarily while a problem is fixed. The request carries no information about you or your Mac: no identifiers, no app version, no query of any kind — the app simply reads a public file, and every comparison happens on your Mac. Like any web request, the server that hosts the file (GitHub Pages) sees your IP address in order to deliver it; we do not receive or keep access logs.
The following stays on your device and is never transmitted to us or anyone else:
In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple through your Apple ID. We never see your payment details. Purchase entitlements are managed by Apple's StoreKit.
LazyPets does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, does not contain advertising, and does not sell or share your information for advertising.
You can permanently delete your account at any time from the app: manage window → Settings → Delete account. This removes your email, name, account identifier, and synced content (task list, website shortcuts, favourite pets, nicknames, and pet setup) from our systems. (Purchases are tied to your Apple ID and are unaffected.)
LazyPets is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "Last updated" date.
