🐾 LazyPets

Pixel-art pets that live on your Mac's Dock.

LazyPets puts animated companions on top of your Dock. They roam, nap, and attack files you drag onto them (safely moving them to the Bin), and each pet can carry little tools you assign to it: timers, tasks, music controls, and more.

Getting started

On first launch, a short tour walks you through picking a pet, naming it, and giving it its first job.
Click the LazyPets icon in the menu bar for quick controls: switch pets on or off the Dock, and open the manage window.
Click a pet on the Dock to open its pocket panel with the tools you gave it.
Drag a file onto a pet with "Attacks files" switched on to send the file to the Bin.
Assign tools from the manage window: open a pet's page and flip the switches in its Features list.

What pets can do

Attacks files: drop a file on the pet and it moves the file to the Bin.
Timer: quick focus timers with a note, right on the pet.
Pomodoro Timer: repeating focus and break rounds.
Task List: one to-do list shared by all your pets.
Boombox: see and control what's playing in Spotify or Apple Music.
Dial: switch audio devices and adjust volume.
Website Shortcuts: a speed-dial grid of your favourite sites.
Hide Desktop: tuck your desktop icons out of sight with one switch.
Quote of the Day: a small daily quote from your pet.

Frequently asked

I can't see my pet.

Check your other displays. You can pin pets to one display from the menu bar dropdown.
Open the menu bar dropdown and make sure the pet's on-Dock switch is on and "Hide all pets" is off.
Switch the pet off and on again from the menu bar dropdown.
A full-screen app can cover pets. Swipe back to your desktop and they'll be waiting.
If your Dock is hidden or on the side of the screen, pets stand at the very bottom edge instead.
Still nothing? Quit LazyPets and open it again.

Music controls don't work. The Boombox needs permission to control Spotify or Apple Music. macOS asks once the first time; you can re-enable it under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation.

Why does LazyPets ask to use the microphone? Only for the input level meter in the Dial panel, and only while that panel is open. Nothing is recorded or stored.

Do I need an account? No. LazyPets works fully without one. Signing in is optional and keeps your task list, website shortcuts, favourites, nicknames, and pet setup in sync across Macs.

What does the full unlock include? One payment, no subscription. It opens the whole pet library plus the Pomodoro Timer and Website Shortcuts. If you've already bought it on another Mac, use "Restore purchases" in the manage window's Settings.

Can I see the tour again? Yes: manage window → Settings → Replay the tour.

How do I quit? Manage window → Settings → Quit LazyPets.
